Week of May 5, 2008
What a great year! New faces and new friendships and a strong supportive Christian community have marked the days of this school year we now end. In addition to tasty weekly dinners, weekly worship and all the other activities you’ve seen listed, we were blessed to travel to Denver for the New Year’s Lutheran Student Movement Gathering and to Mexico City at Spring Break for an in depth experience of the world’s injustice and the hope born in human struggle and community. We’ll meet for meals many Wednesdays at 6pm during the summer, so join us for dinner when you are in town!
We end the semester with a pancake dinner Wednesday at 6pm, and a final 8pm Sunday worship next Sunday (Pentecost!), using Holden Evening Prayer.
As we enter exam days the prayer for ending the academic year from the Lutheran Student Movement’s Oremos seems appropriate:
O God, source of all that we have and have become, as this year comes to an end, we stand at the door to the future, preparing to enter more deeply into the life you have given us to live. Guard yesterday as the source of precious and profound memories. Fill our hearts today with joy as you bring us to the close of our time in this place. Bless our tomorrows and let them be times of new beginnings, filled with signs of hope and opportunity. Continue to lead us with your vision and unite us as your people. Send us forth more boldly to run the race set before us. Empower us in our witness and strengthen us in our serving. In Christ’s name, AMEN.
